Ocala, F.L. - The Niagara Purple Eagles Swimming team wrapped up at the CSCAA National Invitational Championship in Ocala, Florida with the Men placing 21
st (152.5 points) and the Women 34
th (93 points). This marks the most points scored at the meet in program history.
The two highlights of the competition saw two program records fall.
Alaina Pitton broke her own MAAC Conference Record in the 200 Breast with a time of 2:12.43. Almost a full second faster than her swim at last year's NIC meet which was the previous record. The second was set by
Jordan Grab in the 1000 Free at 9:24.44, earning himself an 8
th place finish in the event.
The Women secured the highest team finish of MAAC schools ahead of Sacred Heart, Iona, Marist, and Mount Saint Mary's, (All Tied for 53
rd).
On the Men's side they ended one spot behind Iona (20
th) and ahead of The Mount (24
th) and Marist (25
th).
Kentucky claimed the team title for the meet with 553 points. Rice, Ohio State, Akron, Queens (NC), and Duke rounded out second through sixth respectively.
Queens (NC) men earned the top spot for the men at 818.5 points. 2
nd through 6
th was Ohio State, Grand Canyon, Duke, George Washington, and Towson.
5 New All-Time Top 10 swims get added to the record books. Three on the Men's side, two on the Women's.
