Purple Eagles Close Out Regular Season Against Quinnipiac

Hamden, CT—The Niagara tennis teams closed out the regular season on Sunday as both the men's and women's teams took on Quinnipiac. The women's team fell 4-0 to the Bobcats while the men fell 5-2 to the Bobcats.

Women's Recap

Doubles

Coral Rodriguez and Gabriela Melo were slotted in first doubles. The duo fell 7-5 to the Bobcats.

Elena Mayet and Larisa Kotok fell in second doubles, 6-2.

In third doubles, Jaida Borg and Enrica Favaron fell 6-3 as Quinnipiac swept doubles.

Singles

Mayet was slotted in first singles for the Purple Eagles, she fell in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1.

Rodriguez fell in straight sets in second singles. She fell 6-2 in both sets.

In fourth singles, Borg fell 6-0, 6-3.

The rest of the singles matches did not finish due to Quinnipiac securing the match win.

Melo took the first set in third singles and was up 3-2 in the second set.

Kotok was leading 4-1 in the second set of sixth singles.

Men's Recap

Doubles

Gurustat Makkar and Rohan Srivastava fell 6-0 in third doubles.

The freshman duo of Vid Maric and José Maria García fell 6-2 in second doubles as Quinnipiac took the doubles point.

Trevor Masi and Tanner Bedard were tied at four in first doubles before was ended due to Quinnipiac taking the doubles point.

Singles

In second singles, Masi fell 6-4 in the opening set. In the second set he forced a third set with a 7-5 win in the second set. He came away with a three set win as he won 6-4 in the third set.

Manuel Alonso notched a win in fifth singles. He won the first set 6-2. After falling in the second set, he came away with the match win with a 10-6 win in the third set.

Bedard was in first singles for the Purple Eagles. He fell in two sets 6-4, 6-4.

Maric fell in three sets in in third singles.

In fourth singles, Makkar fell 7-5, 6-0.

Garcia was slotted in sixth singles, he fell in straight sets 6-2, 6-4.

Up Next

The women's team finishes the MAAC regular season with a 4-2 record and are locked in the third seed in the MAAC Championships.  The Purple Eagles will play on April 20, against either Fairfield or Quinnipiac in West Windsor, N.J.

The men's team closes their season with a 7-6 record and a 2-4 MAAC record.
