Box Score 2 Williamsville, N.Y.—Both the Niagara men's and women's tennis teams improved to 2-0 in MAAC play on Saturday as both teams won 5-2 over Siena.
Women's Recap
Doubles
Elena Mayet and Larisa Kotok played in first doubles for the Purple Eagles and came away with a 6-4 win.
Coral Rodriguez and Gabriella Melo took a 6-4 win the second doubles as the Purple Eagles secured the doubles point to open the match.
Singles
Melo earned a point in third singles for the Purple Eagles. She won the first set of her match 6-4 before securing the sweep with a 6-3 in the second set.
Jaida Borg was slotted in fourth singles and she earned a comeback victory for the Purple Eagles. After dropping the first set 6-0, she forced a tiebreaker with a 6-4 win in the second set. In the third and final set she notched the win with a 7-5 set win.
Mercedes Velasco earned a three set win in fifth singles. She won the first set 6-4 before falling 6-4 in the second set. In the tiebreaker set she won the set 6-4 for the point for the Purple Eagles.
Enrica Favaron played in sixth singles and picked up a straight set win. She won the opening set 6-4 before winning the match with a 6-1 win in the second set.
Men's Recap
Doubles
Tanner Bedard and Trevor Masi opened the match with a win in first doubles as they won 6-2.
Rohan Srivastava and Gurustat Makkar secured the doubles point for the Purple Eagles as they won their second doubles match 6-4.
Singles
Bedard continued his great season in first singles as he won the first set 6-3 before completing the sweep with a 6-0 win in the second set.
Makkar notched a straight set win in fifth singles as he won the first set 6-1 before winning the second set 6-4.
Vid Maric secured the match win in third singles. He won the first set 7-5 before taking the second set 7-5 to secure the win.
José Maria García continued his successful freshman season as he won in fourth singles. After falling 6-3 in the first set he tied the match at one with a 6-2 in in the second set. He notched the win with a 7-5 win the third set.

The women's team is back in action on Sunday as they travel to Cleveland State for their final non-conference match of the season.
The men are back on the court on Mar. 29 as they close out their home schedule of the season against Rider.
