Myrtle Beach, SC—The Niagara women's track & field closed out their first even of the spring on Saturday.
Alissa Mete was the first Purple Eagle in action in the mile, she finished with a time of 5:33.28 as she finished 15th overall.
Kate Pratt finished eighth overall in the 400 meter with a time of 58.89.
Three Purple Eagles competed in the 400 meter hurdles. Vanessa Woolery was the top finisher as she finished with a time of 1:07.5 which was the eighth best in the event. Lara Gritzek set a new personal record in the event as she finished 13th overall with a time of 1:09.63. Mychena Smith also set a new personal record with a time of 1:13.77.
Six Purple Eagles competed in the 200 meter event. Deborah Borysewicz set a new personal record with a time of 25.26 as she earned two points for the Purple Eagles with a seventh place finish. Hannah Adderley-Julien finished 13th overall with a time of 25.54 which set a new personal record. Freshman Sapphire John finished 22nd overall with a time 25.89. Lauryn Speicher set a new personal record with a time of 26.15 that placed her 30th overall. Pratt finished 32nd overall with a time of 26.34. Daniela Velez finished 41st overall with a time of 26.57.
In the final event of the day the relay team of John, Woolery, Arrianna Blachowicz, and Pratt finished fourth in the 4 x 400 with a time of 4:04.05.
The Purple Eagles are back in action on Apr. 5-6 at the Spartan Invite hosted by Michigan State.
