CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Niagara University swimming teams put together several strong performances on day two of the 2024 Magnus Cup Invitational.
 
Natalie Killion broke Niagara records in both the 100-yard backstroke (55.32) and 200-yard freestyle (1:49.99) during preliminary heats. She went on to qualify for the A-final in both events, finishing tenth in the 100 backstroke and ninth in the 200 freestyle.
 
Sophomore Alaina Pitton led the Purple Eagles' podium charges, securing a second-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:01.96, just over a tenth of a second behind winner Jordyn Libler of Xavier.
 
Freshman Marty Divis also contributed to Niagara's point total with a top-10 finish in the women's 400-yard individual medley, touching the wall in 4:30.49.
 
The women's team is tied for seventh place overall.
 
On the men's side, the Purple Eagles secured multiple A-final appearances. Nathan Dragon earned a ninth-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle (1:41.37), while Nelson Maier placed ninth in the 100-yard butterfly (1:31.71).
 
The men's 200-yard medley relay team of Maier, Sean Finley, Lance Cruz, and Jake Wade also claimed ninth place with a time of 1:31.71.
 
The men's team sits fifth in the overall standings with 356 points, while the women's team tied for seventh place with St. Bonaventure at 286 points.
 
The University of Akron won the women's competition with 1,021 points, while Cleveland State University topped the men's field with 1,045.5 points.
