CLEVELAND, Ohio — Niagara swimming made waves at the 2024 Magnus Cup Invitational Thursday, highlighted by
Alaina Pitton's victory in the 50-yard breaststroke and multiple program records from the Purple Eagles.
Pitton, a sophomore, claimed the Purple Eagles' lone individual victory of the day, touching first in the 50 breaststroke with a time of 28.61 seconds, edging out Akron's Claire Cox (28.82).
Sophomore
Natalie Killion shattered the Niagara program record in the 500-yard freestyle during preliminaries, posting a time of 4:52.86. She went on to finish seventh in the finals (4:57.86).
Paige South, a senior, broke the Niagara program record in the 50 freestyle preliminaries with a time of 23.85 seconds before finishing 11th in the finals (23.20). Her performance was part of a strong sprint group showing for the Purple Eagles.
On the men's side,
Nathan Dragon led Niagara with a runner-up finish in the 50 freestyle, clocking 20.32 seconds. The men's 200 freestyle relay team of
Reid Tichy,
Levi Morgan, Jake Wade, and Dragon added another top-five finish, placing fifth with a time of 1:22.02.
The Niagara women sit in sixth place overall, while the men are in fifth place.
