Edison, N.J.—On Friday the MAAC announced the men's tennis major awards along with the two All-MAAC teams that are selected by the coaches within the MAAC. Three Purple Eagles earned All-MAAC honors. Trevor Masi was named First-Team All-MAAC in the No. 3 singles position. Gurustat Makkar was selected to the first team in No. 6 singles. The duo of Manuel Alonso and Gurustat Makkar were selected to the All-MAAC First Team in the No. 2 doubles position.
Masi finished 9-5 in dual matches this season along with going 4-2 in MAAC play. He had eight of his nine wins in the third position. His first MAAC win of the season came against Quinnipiac as he won in straight sets 7-5, 6-1. He notched his second straight MAAC win against Mount St. Mary's as he needed a come from behind victory to take the win. He improved to 3-0 in MAAC play with a win over Marist. The Niagara Falls, Ont. native moved to 4-0 in MAAC play with a win over Fairfield.
Makkar finished 5-1 overall in MAAC play while going 8-8 in dual matches this season. Makkar started MAAC play 5-0. In the first MAAC match against Quinnipiac he won his match in straight sets 6-1, 6-3. In his second match against Mount St. Mary's he also won in straight sets 6-4, 6-0. Against Marist, he notched his third straight win in two sets with a 6-3, 6-2 win. In the fourth MAAC matchup he defeated Fairfield in straight sets winning both sets 6-1. Against Rider, he fell in the opening set but responded with a 6-4 win in the second set and a 10-6 win in the third set.
The duo of Manuel Alonso and Makkar finished the season with a pair of wins in doubles. Against Rider the duo teamed up for a 6-2 win. In the final match of the season, the duo won 7-6 against Siena.
