Poughkeepsie, N.Y. — Niagara was swept by Marist 7-0 in men's tennis action Saturday.
The Red Foxes clinched the doubles point with wins on courts one and two. Nick Suhanitski and Thomas Bevan defeated Logan Wong and Jose Maria Garcia, 6-1, at No. 1 doubles, while Fate Singh and Jose Catala handled Ekansh Shukla and Shravan Somasi, 6-0, at No. 2. The No. 3 doubles match between Ary Bhawan and Sarosh Rustomjee of Niagara and Marist's Alejandro Abella Fernandez and Dante Despontin was left unfinished at 4-2.
Marist carried the momentum into singles, where the Purple Eagles could not find an answer up and down the lineup. Catala topped Garcia, 6-3, 6-2, at No. 1 singles, and Abella Fernandez defeated Wong, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 2. Anirudh Nallaparaju beat Bhawan, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 3, while Bevan rolled past Sarosh Rustomjee, 6-1, 6-3, at No. 4. Dante Despontin downed Shukla, 6-2, 6-0, at No. 5, and Fate Singh closed out the sweep with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Somasi at No. 6.
