Ithaca, N.Y.—The Niagara men's tennis team continued the Cornell Invitational on Saturday.
Tanner Bedard was the first Purple Eagle in action as he took on Zachery Lim of Penn. Bedard fell in the first set 6-3 but responded in the second set. He took the second set 7-6 by winning the tiebreaker 7-2. He took the match win with a 6-4 win in the third set.
After winning his Friday match, Vid Maric fell on Saturday in straight sets. He fell in the opening set 6-3 and could not force a third set as he fell 6-2 in the second set.
Rohan Srivastava won his match on Friday due to his opponent being injured, on Saturday he faced Matthew Rutter from Penn. Srivastava could not take a game from his opponent as he fell 6-0, 6-0. In his second match of the day he face Maxwell Moadel from Cornell. He fell in the first set 7-5, he forced a third set as he won 6-4 in the second set. He secured the win in the tiebreaker as he won 10-4.
Manuel Alonso was back in action as he took on a player from Cornell. Alonso fell in the opening set 6-4 but could not force a third set as he fell 6-1 in the second set. He took a win in his second match of the day. He fell in the first set 6-1, he responded in the second set with a 6-4 win. In the tiebreaker he took the match with a 10-8 win.
Gurustat Makkar was in action against an opponent from Stonehill. In the first set Makkar won 6-2 and he secured the win in the second set as he won 7-5. Makkar picked up his second win of the day as he once again won in straight sets. In the opening set he won 6-1 and then took the second set 6-2.
Salvador Vazquez was back on the court in the morning as he competed against a player from Stonehill. He won his first set 6-2 but then fell 7-6 in the second set. In the third set, Vazquez took the match win with a 6-3 win. He secured the two win day as he won his round of 16 match in straight sets. He won the first set 6-4 and the second set 6-1.
The Purple Eagles close out the Cornell Invitational on Sunday.
