TOLEDO, OHIO – The Niagara men's tennis program took part in the UT Rockets Invite over the last three days. The invitational for the Purple Eagles was highlighted by
Gurustat Makkar and
Jorge Sedeno being named to the All-Tournament Team for their performances.
Invitational Recap
Friday
• On the first day of competition Niagara took on Chicago, picking up a pair of doubles wins.
•
Tanner Bedard and
Roberto Vaca defeated their opponents 6-4, while
Bryce Bodak and Makkar won their doubles match, 7-5.
• Niagara failed to pick up a win in singles competiton against Chicago.
Saturday
• Niagara took on Holy Cross and UNOH during Saturday's events.
• Bodak picked up another doubles win, this time with teammate
Jorge Sedeno, as the duo won their match 6-4.
• Five Purple Eagles picked up wins in singles competition against the Crusaders, including Bedard (6-1, 6-1), Sedeno (6-1, 6-2), Vaca (6-4, 6-2), Makkar (6-1, 6-3), and
Salvador Vazquez (6-1, 6-3).
• Later in the day against UNOH, Sedeno and
Manuel Alonso picked up a doubles win, along with Vazquez and first-year Purple Eagle
Rohan Srivistava, 6-4 and 6-2, respectively.
• Sedeno, Vaca, Sirvistava, and Vazquez also won their singles competitions against UNOH.
Sunday
• The Purple and White concluded competition on Sunday against Holy Cross and Dennison.
• For the second day in a row against the Crusaders, Bedard, Sedeno, Vazquez, Makkar, and Vaca picked up singles wins.
• The Purple Eagles also picked up a doubles win against Holy Cross.
• Makkar and Sedeno won their doubles match against Dennison, while Alonso, Bodak, and Vazquez won their singles matches.
