Cashman Named To All-MAAC Second Team

POMONA, N.Y. – Niagara pitcher Marcus Cashman has been named to the All-MAAC Second Team, announced by the conference on Tuesday. This is Cashman's second straight season earning All-MAAC honors; he was named to the All-Rookie Team in 2021.

Cashman (2-4) opened the season strong, striking out a career-high 10 batters in 5.0 innings pitched at Western Carolina on Feb. 18. Cashman was just short of his career-high versus Rider on April 16, fanning nine in 5.0 innings pitched.

Cashman's 4.21 ERA is the lowest of NU's starting pitchers and is the sixth-best ERA in the conference. He has fanned 61 in 62.0 innings pitched.

Cashman is holding opponents to a .189 batting average, which is the best in the MAAC. His 42 hits allowed are the fewest of all MAAC pitchers.

Cashman's 34 total runs allowed are the fifth fewest in the MAAC and he has given up the third-fewest earned runs with 29. He has allowed the second-fewest doubles (nine), the ninth-fewest sacrifice bunts (two) and the 10th-fewest sacrifice flies (three) and homeruns (seven).

The No. 6 Purple Eagles take on No. 3 Canisius in game one of the MAAC Championships on Wednesday, May 25 at 11:00 a.m.
