Box Score 2 EAST LANSING, MICH – The Niagara men's tennis team fell to Xavier and Michigan State this weekend in non-conference men's tennis action from East Lansing, Mich.
Match Recap: Xavier – L, 0-7
• The Purple Eagles dropped all six singles matches and the doubles matches as Xavier picked up the sweep of NU.

Roberto Vaca went three sets in his No. 5 singles match. He won the first set, 6-4, before falling in the next two, 6-4, 10-8.

William Gothlin put together a strong fist set in his No. 4 singles match but came up just short, 7-6. He would go on to be defeated 6-2 in the second set.
• Freshman
Tanner Bedard also fell 6-7 in the first set of his singles match on court two, but he ended up falling in straight sets to the Musketeer.

Tanner Bedard picked up Niagara's lone point of the weekend when he defeated his opponent, 6-4, 6-4, in No. 3 singles.
• In doubles action,
Eduardo Villalpando and
Jorge Sedeno won their No. 3 doubles match, 6-4.
• Niagara was defeated in straight sets in the other five singles matches with the Spartans.
• The Purple and White's top doubles pairing of
Trevor Masi and
Manuel Alonso, battled in their match on court one but eventually fell, 7-5.
• Bedard and Gothlin also fell in their No. 2 doubles match, 6-4.
Niagara Notes
• Bedard's win in singles against the Spartans is the first ever point the Purple and White have taken from Michigan State.
• Niagara falls to 7-6 overall heading into last six matches of the season, five of which are against league opponents.
• Bedard is now 9-3 this season after his 1-1 weekend.
• Villalpando and Sedeno improved to 5-3 with their win over the Spartans in No. 3 doubles.
