YOUNGSTOWN, OHIO – The Niagara men's tennis program sent four players down to the Youngstown State Invitational in Youngstown, Ohio.
Manuel Alonso highlighted the Purple Eagles' weekend with three wins in singles action and a doubles win.
Alonso won both of his singles match on Saturday, defeating Gramley (Denison), 7-6, 6-2, followed by a win over French (Denison) later on in the day, 6-4, 6-2.
Bryce Bodak and
Roberto Vaca also picked up singles wins on Saturday, against Huang (Buffalo) and Prochnow (unattached), respectively.
Gurustat Makkar split his two singles matches, defeating Chappell (unattached) in three sets.
On Sunday, Alonso picked up his third win of the weekend, this one over Haung (Buffalo), 7-5, 3-6, 10-5. Bodak recorded his second win of the weekend against Gramley (Denision), 6-1, 6-4.
Niagara picked up one doubles win on the weekend as Alonso and Makkar topped Patterson and Chapides (Denision), 6-2.
The Purple and White will be back in action Oct. 7-10 when they head to the ITA Regionals in Philadelphia, Pa.,
