EDISON, N.J. – Sophomore Manuel Alonso has been named MAAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week announced on Wednesday.

Alonso went 2-0 in No. 1 singles and split a pair of No. 1 doubles matches last week as the Purple Eagles went 1-1 against No. 48 Northern Illinois and Queens College (NY). Alonso defeated NIU's Mikko Malinen to earn Niagara a win in singles, 6-2, 6-7(4), 1-0 (10-5). Against Queens, Alonso bounced back from losing the first set, 6-4, to win the next two sets, 7-5, 6-3, to clinch the match. Alonso and doubles partner Jorge Sedeno won their match 7-6(5) for their team-leading fourth win.

The Purple Eagles conclude the regular season this weekend with matches against Marist, Rochester, and Siena.
