NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, NY – The men's tennis program completed play at the Viking Invitational Saturday evening, closing out their fall schedule. Niagara picked up a total of seven wins, including four in singles action and three in doubles play.
Tournament Recap
Singles
•
Eduardo Villalpando and
Jorge Sedeno picked up Niagara's three singles wins on the weekend.
• Sedeno won two matches, the first on Friday with a win over Zach Trimpe of Butler, 6-3, 6-0. The second was over Tom Owen of UB, 6-2, 4-6, 1-0(4) on Saturday.
• Villalpando won his first match of the weekend with a 6-1, 7-5 two set victory over Max Decurtins of Dayton.

Tanner Bedard fell in his round of 64 singles match but picked up a win in the back-draw bracket. The victory came agianst UB's Murphy, 7-5, 6-0.

Matt Andrus fell in straight-sets to Buffalo's Greg Hastings, 6-1, 6-2.
• Freshman
Gurustat Makkar went to three sets with Youngstown's Asier Pena Ibanez. Makkar took the first set 6-3, but fell in the second and third, 6-2, 1-0(4).

Manuel Alonso squared off with Dayton's Matt Demarco. The two went to three sets, with Demarco coming out on top, 6-4, 4-6, 1-0(6).
Doubles
• Villalpando and Berdard picked up a win in doubles action Friday, defeating CSU's Chatras and Staiger, 6-3
• The duo fell in their second match of the tournament to Dayton's Demarco and Demarco by the final score of 6-2.
• Alonso and Sedeno fell to Butler's Dickson and Carr on Friday, 6-1.
• The Purple Eagles final doubles pairing of Andrus and
William Gothlin dropped their match with Xavier's Temming and Nakayama, 6-4.
• Alonso and Makkar faced off with teammates Andrus and Gothlin in the back-draw round of 32. The latter duo won the match, 6-3.
• Villalpando and Bedard played two matches in the back-draw round of 16, picking up a win over Kammerer and Pennelli of Xavier, 6-2.
