The Purple Eagles resume their 2019-20 season with a pair of matches on Saturday, January 25 versus Ball State and Michigan State.

Scene Setter

• The Purple Eagles had a strong fall with solid performances as a team and as individuals.
• Niagara won both of its dual matches. NU downed Rider, 5-2, on September 21 on the newly-renovated tennis courts on campus.
• The Purple Eagles beat Daemen College, 7-0, a week later. Niagara played in several high level invitationals including the Purdue Invitational and the Navy Gold Invite.
• The Purple Eagles were selected sixth in the MAAC Preseason Poll announced on January 17.

Purple Points

• Pere Padro led the Purple Eagles with a 9-2 record in singles during the fall season.
• Manuel Alonso was second on the team in wins with six, followed by Darrel Harxhi and Bruno Goncalves who both had five wins.
• In doubles, the top duo of Jorge Sedeno and Harxhi was a team-best 4-3.

 
Across The Net – Ball State (1-1)

• The Cardinal are 1-1 entering Saturday's matches. Ball State fell to Indiana (7-0) on January 12 before downing Xavier, 6-1, on January 18.
• This will be the first meeting between the programs.

Across The Net – Michigan State (1-1)

• The Spartans are 1-1 on the season with a victory over Toledo (4-3) on January 11 and a defeat to Middle Tennessee State (6-1) on January 17.
• Anthony Pero leads the Spartans with an 8-5 singles record, including a 2-0 mark in No. 2 singles.
• The doubles team of Jarreau Campbell and Drew Keene has won a team-high five matches.
• The Purple Eagles and Spartans will meet for the third straight season. MSU won the previous two encounters.
