VESTAL, N.Y. – The Purple Eagles fell to both Central Connecticut State and Binghamton on Saturday.

Game Recap
  • The Blue Devils took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning after a two-run homerun.
  • In the top of the third, a sacrifice fly from Peter Battaglia scored Michael Gabriele to cut Central Connecticut's lead in half, 2-1.
  • Max Giordano blasted his third homerun of the season out of the park in the top of the sixth inning to tie up the score, 2-2.
  • In the top of the seventh frame, a sacrifice fly from Alex Zulia and an RBI triple from Battaglia gave Niagara its first lead of the game, 4-2.
  • The Blue Devils cut Niagara's lead to just one run, 4-3, after a score on a wild pitch in the bottom of the seventh inning.
  • In the top of the ninth, Central Connecticut tied the score, 4-4, after an RBI single. A sacrifice fly then sent in the game-winning run for the Blue Devils.

Eagle's Eye On…
  • Gabriele led the Purple Eagles with two hits, while Battaglia and Zulia each added two.
  • Battaglia recorded a team-high two RBI and Gabriele scored a team-best two runs.
  • Matthew Brash turned in another strong start on the mound. He struck out nine, while allowing just three hits and two earned runs in 5.0 innings pitched. He walked just one batter.
  • Jordan Parranto (0-4) took the loss.

Game Recap
  • Binghamton took an early 7-0 lead over the Purple Eagles, scoring three times in the first inning and four times in the second inning.
  • Niagara got on the board in the top of the third inning with an RBI single from Zulia.
  • The Bearcats, however, continued to dominate and led Niagara, 16-1, going into the ninth inning.
  • The Purple Eagles made a late push, scoring three times in the ninth thanks to a two-RBI single from Marty Cole and an RBI single from Darian Blanks, but it was not enough to overcome Binghamton's lead, as the Bearcats won the game, 16-4.
