POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The Purple Eagles dropped a close 5-3 game to Marist in their series finale with the Red Foxes on Sunday.

Game Recap
  • The Red Foxes struck first, scoring once in the bottom of the first inning to take a 1-0 lead over NU. Marist extended its lead, 2-0, in the fourth frame.
  • In the bottom of the fifth, an RBI single from Benny Serrano and an RBI double from Michael Gabriele tied the score, 2-2.
  • Josh Marchese reached base on a fielder's choice in the bottom of the eighth and Peter Battaglia scored to give the Purple Eagles a 3-2 lead over Marist.
  • A three-RBI triple from Marist in the bottom of the eighth put the Red Foxes back in the lead and earned them the 5-3 victory to win the series.

Eagle's Eye On…
  • Gabriele, Max Giordano and Darian Blanks led the Purple Eagles with two hits each. All three players also had one double.
  • Serrano, Gabriele and Marchese each recorded one RBI.
  • Tyler Howard (3-7) pitched his fourth complete game of the season. He struck out four and allowed four earned runs in 8.0 innings pitched.
