OREM, Utah – The Purple Eagles were defeated by Utah Valley, 8-2, on Monday evening.

Game Recap
  • The Wolverines struck first with a solo homerun to take a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning.
  • An RBI single from Max Giordano in the top of the sixth inning tied things up, 1-1.
  • The Wolverines had a big eighth inning, scoring seven runs on five hits to take an 8-1 lead over Niagara.
  • In the top of the ninth, Darian Blanks scored on an error by Utah Valley, but it was not enough to overcome the Wolverines' lead as Niagara fell to Utah Valley, 8-2.

Eagle's Eye On…
  • Giordano, Dawson Bailey, Matt Zaremba and Alex Zulia each had one hit. Bailey's hit was a double.
  • Giordano recorded one RBI.
  • Blanks and Zulia had one stolen base each.
  • Despite the loss, Matthew Brash (0-3) had another great outing on the mound. He fanned eight and allowed just four hits and two earned runs in 7.0 innings pitched.
