NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. – Niagara University track and field head coach
Christine Kloiber announced that Lockport native and Starpoint senior Kiara McDowell has signed a National Letter of Intent (NLI) during the early signing period to join the Purple Eagles for the 2020 season.
"We are thrilled to add Kiara to our Purple Eagle family," Kloiber said. "We knew that she would fit right into our throws program because she loves the sport, is eager to learn and had a natural synergy with the team when they met. We have the utmost faith that she will be a major contributor to the throws group and are looking forward to the journey we will be taking with her."

- 2018: fifth-place finisher in discus, seventh-place finisher in shot put.

- 2018 US Powerlifting Association medalist.
- 2015 Starpoint Varsity Track & Field Rookie of the Year.
- 2015 Lancaster High School Thrower's Camp winner for "Most Improved."
- Discus personal best: 112' 2"
- Shot put personal best: 33' 11.5"
- Played modified, JV basketball from 2014-2016.
- Brother, Tyler, played football for Starpoint. Robinson remains the Spartans' all-time single-season rushing leader with 1,841 yards, set in 2010.
Last season, the Niagara women's track and field team finished in eighth place at the MAAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships. At the MAAC Championships, junior
Morgan Palmer placed fifth in discus with a throw of 40.79 meters while senior
Maggie Gerard came in 10th in the event with a new personal record of 37.08 meters,
2019 will be the sixth season for Kloiber as the team's head track and field coach. She has served as the head coach of the program every year since it was first established prior to the 2014 season.
