EDISON, NJ – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) will hold its 2017 MAAC Baseball Championship at Sal Maglie Stadium in Niagara Falls, New York. Canisius College and Niagara University will serve as the co-host of the championship.

The MAAC Baseball Championship takes place from May 24-27.  The top six schools will compete for a chance to be named 2017 MAAC Baseball Champions and earn the leagues automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. This will be the first time in conference history that the championship will be held at Sal Maglie Stadium.

"Locating the tournament in Western New York, for the first time in conference history, is an exciting opportunity for fans in that area to witness championship level baseball," John Maddock, Canisius Associate Athletic Director and chair of the MAAC Baseball Committee said. "From past experience, I can promise a great weekend of baseball, as six teams battle for the opportunity to advance to the NCAA Division I Tournament. The committee and the membership look forward to working with Neal Turvey and the staff at Sal Maglie Stadium."

Sal Maglie Stadium served as the alternative home field for the Niagara Purple Eagles varsity and club baseball teams until 2013. The ball park was also the home field for the Niagara Catholic Patriots (high school baseball) and was home stadium for the Niagara Power (NYCBL) baseball team from 2007-15.
 
The ballpark has a capacity of 4,000 people and opened in 1939. Its original name was simply Hyde Park Stadium, and was originally designed primarily for football. It was adapted for baseball in the 1950s and was rebuilt as a proper baseball facility in 1999. In mid-season 1983 it was renamed for former major league player Sal Maglie. Sal Maglie also played for the Niagara University Purple Eagles.
