Williamsville, N.Y. – The Niagara men's tennis team picked up its second win of the spring season with a 5-3 win over the Daemen Wildcats on Sunday.
Niagara won four of the five singles matches completed to come away with the win. The Purple Eagles won one of the doubles matches with
Francis Nadeau and
Felipe Fuentes topped Mark Veitengruber and Justin Milner, 8-6, in No. 1 doubles.
Trailing 2-1 entering singles, NU won in two and three singles to take a 3-2 lead. Fuentes defeated Andrew LaMar, 6-2, 6-2, in No. 2 singles, followed by a 6-1, 6-0 victory by
Brent Boleslav, 6-1, 6-0.
Chris Grossi defeated Adam Kerr, 7-5, 6-2, in No. 6 singles and senior
Joseph Smithyman clinched the match with a 6-3, 6-0 win over John LeMar in No. 5 singles.
Niagara will be back on the court to open conference play against Fairfield on March 19 and Siena on March 20.
