ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. – The Niagara men's tennis team was defeated by Monmouth, 6-1, on Saturday.

In doubles play, the Purple Eagles (4-9, 2-2 MAAC) won one of three matches played. The No. 1 doubles duo of Felipe Fuentes and Francis Nadeau defeated Monmouth's No. 1 pair, 6-4. The No. 3 tandem of Chris Grossi and Mark Mackowski lost a close 7-5 match to the Hawks.

At No. 1 singles, Fuentes won his match, defeating Monmouth's Przemyslaw Filipek in straight sets, 6-1, 6-0.

The Purple Eagles are back in action Saturday, April 2 at Quinnipiac.
