Tennis Starts Stretch Run At Siena, Fairfield

The Purple Eagles will visit the Siena Saints for a tilt on Friday before concluding their MAAC road schedule against the Fairfield Stags on Saturday.

First Serve
·         The Niagara men are 2-2 in MAAC competition so far, with its last win coming on April 4 against Rider, 6-1.
·         The NU men are currently on a 13-match win streak over Siena, with their most recent trip to Albany in 2012 resulting in a 6-1 victory.
·         The Niagara men halted a 10-match losing streak to Fairfield with an emphatic 6-1 win last season for its largest win in the series since March 2007.
·         The Niagara women improved to 4-1 in the MAAC and evened their overall record to 7-7 with wins over Rider and Monmouth on April 4.
·         The NU women have gone 13-3 in its last 16 matches vs Siena, with their most recent trip to Albany in 2012 resulting in a 5-2 victory.
·         Niagara has 1-10 in the last 11 meetings with Fairfield with the lone win coming in 2013. NU lost twice to Fairfield last season. The Purple Eagles suffered their first conference defeat to the Stags on April 5, and fell to Fairfield in the MAAC semifinals on April 26.

·         The Siena men are 1-8 overall with a 0-2 MAAC record while the women are 6-8 overall and 2-1 in MAAC play. The Siena men have dropped four straight and the women have lost five consecutively.
·         The Fairfield men are 4-6 overall with a 2-2 MAAC record while the women are 4-5 overall and 3-1 in MAAC play. The Fairfield men are on a three-match losing streak and the women have lost two straight.

·         Paulina Velasquez was named MAAC Player of the Week on April 8 after going 4-0 in singles and doubles matches against Rider and Monmouth. Velasquez leads the team with 10 wins and is 5-0 in MAAC play.
·         Velasquez and doubles partner Maria Ortiz leads the team with a 6-4 overall record and 4-1 MAAC record.
·         Brooke Briseno is a five-match winning streak and is 4-0 in conference. She is 7-3 overall at six singles.
·         Freshman Stella Peisakhova has won three straight matches to improve to 5-0 in MAAC matches at four singles.
·         The Niagara men have won the doubles point in three of their last four matches.
