WEST WINDSOR, N.J. – The Niagara Purple Eagles were eliminated by No. 1 seed Monmouth, 4-0, in the 2015 MAAC Men's Tennis Tournament semifinals on Saturday at the Mercer County Park.
The Purple Eagles (6-10) had their season ended by the Monmouth Hawks (16-8) in the MAAC Tournament semifinals for the second straight season.
The Hawks picked up the doubles point after slipping past the No. 3 duo of
Olivier Dufour-Coursol and
Rares Ispas, 8-6, and topping the team of
David Raymond and
Francis Nadeau, 8-3, at No. 2 doubles.
Monmouth led 2-0 after winning at five singles, followed by a victory from MAAC Player of the Year Victor Pugliese at No. 1 singles. Monmouth clinched the match with a straight set win at No. 2 singles.
