Men’s Tennis Tops Peacocks, 5-2

JERSEY CITY, N.J. – The Niagara men's tennis team battled to a 5-2 win over the Saint Peter's Peacocks in its conference opener on Sunday.

The Purple Eagles (3-6, 1-0 MAAC) won two of the three doubles matches to win the point. The No. 2 team of David Raymond and Olivier Dufour-Coursol won their team-best 13th match with a 8-2 win, while Rares Ispas and Francis Nadeau won 8-3 in three doubles.

Niagara collected wins from three to six singles. Dufour-Coursol, who was making his first appearance since suffering an ankle injury on Feb. 20, won in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2 in three singles. Raymond defeated Jorge Rodriguez, 6-1, 6-1, in four singles; Ispas won 6-2, 6-1 in five singles and Nadeau won 6-3, 6-1 in six singles.

NU returns home to face Quinnipiac on Saturday, March 28 at 5 p.m.
