Live VideoNIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. – The Niagara women's lacrosse team will open the home portion of the season when the Purple Eagles host the St. Bonaventure Bonnies on Tuesday, March 17 at Niagara Field with the opening draw set for 4 p.m.

NIAGARA TIDBITS• Niagara enters Tuesday's contest 2-4, having won its first game of the season on Friday, Feb. 27 against Cincinnati after dropping a 14-7 decision to Lehigh in the season-opener. Despite keeping the score at 1-0 for the first 20 minutes of the contest and holding the No. 14 Ohio State to its third least number of goals scored in a game all year, the Purple Eagles fell in a 15-2 decision to the Buckeyes on Mar. 1.
• Niagara then dropped a 21-4 decision to the No. 4 Florida Gators on Mar. 7 before edging Stetson, 10-9. Most recently, the Purple Eagles fell to the Michigan Wolverines, 15-8, on Mar. 14.
• The Purple Eagles offense runs through sophomore
Taylor Wolf and senior
Carrie-Jo Farrugia. Wolf leads the squad with 11 goals and two assists, while her teammate has pocketed eight goals and four assists. Senior
Hannah Barnett has also chipped in on offense with six goals and three assists while
Erin Patenaude has added a four goals and four assists on the young season.

Danielle Maio leads the way with 26 draw controls won, while
Jillian Ford has caused seven turnovers for the Purple and White.

Andrea Francisco has played just over 250 minutes after the six games this season, making 28 saves for a 1-2-0 record.
Amanda Yavorek made a career best eight saves in NU's loss to Ohio State. Overall, the sophomore has made 14 saves in 103 minutes of play, posting a goals against average of 14.47 and a save percentage of .359.
LAST TIME OUT• Niagara was defeated by non-conference opponent Michigan Wolverines, 15-8, on Saturday, March 14. The Purple Eagles received three goals from
Carrie-Jo Farrugia and two goals from
Taylor Wolf. Sophomore goalie
Andrea Francisco made a season-high nine saves in net for NU.

Danielle Maio led the team with three draw controls while
Elizabeth Benedict forced three Wolverine turnovers. Overall, Michigan garnered a 20-to-19 advantage in groundballs, as well as a 32-to-20 advantage in shots. Niagara caused 12 turnovers compared to Michigan's 11.
ABOUT ST. BONAVENTURE • St. Bonaventure comes to Monteagle Ridge looking for its first win of the 2015 campaign (0-5), recently dropping a 12-11 contest to Siena on Saturday, March 14.
• The team is led by Mikayla Place and Gabrielle Bradley as they both have 13 points apiece. Place has netted six goals while adding a team-high seven assists. Bradley leads the team with 11 goals and also contributes a pair of assists.
• Goaltending duties belong to Morgan Conroy and Kerrigan Cummings. In 281 minutes of play, Conroy has made 62 saves for a 14.72 goals against average and a .473 save percentage. Cummings has made three saves on the year after only playing 19 minutes so far this season.
ALL-TIME AGAINST THE BONNIES• St. Bonaventure holds a commanding 11-2 advantage over the Purple Eagles in the all-time series that started in 2001.
• In 2013, Niagara secured its first victory over the Bonnies in program history, dropping its Little 3 rival, 9-7. Last season, the Purple Eagles claimed an 18-13 victory over St. Bonaventure at Niagara Field.
• Niagara outshot St. Bonaventure, 43-25, grabbed a 34-33 advantage in ground balls and forced 16 St. Bonaventure turnovers compared to just 11 from the Bonnies. The Purple Eagles also controlled the circle with a 16-14 edge on the draw.

Carrie-Jo Farrugia finished with four goals and three assists, while
Brittany Delano secured four points with a trio of goals and an assist.
Danielle Maio (1 goal, 3 assists) and
Erin Patenaude (2 goals, 1 assist) also pocketed a multiple-point night en route to the victory.
• The goalies finished the game stopping 13 Bonnie shots for as
Andrea Francisco earned the win for the Purple and White.
ON DECK• The Purple Eagles welcome Robert Morris on Friday, March 20 to take on the Colonials in non-conference play. The contest is scheduled for 3 p.m. at Niagara Field.
