Edison, NJ - Niagara University senior defender Sydney Huhtala was named MAAC Defensive Player of the Year and All-MAAC First Team member, while Maddy Gill, Michaela Delles and Haley Terry all also earned All-MAAC Team honors the conference announced Friday morning.
Huhtala led the conference and the team with 55 caused turnovers and 52 ground balls to eclipse over 200 career in both categories. The Baldwinsville, NY native also found the back of the net against Battle of the Bridge rival Canisius. This is the third straight season Huhtala was named MAAC Defensive Player of the Year as well as the All-MAAC First Team.
For the second straight season Gill was tabbed to the All-MAAC First Team. The Corning, NY native tallied 27 goals and a career-high eight assists for 35 points. The senior started all 16 games this season recording five hat tricks.Â
Following being named to the 2025 All-MAAC Rookie Team, Delles was tabbed to the All-MAAC Second Team in her sophomore season. The Philadelphia, NY native sat seventh in the conference in goals and led the team, while placing 10th in the MAAC in assists, also leading the team. Delles also recorded a career-high 12 assists to lead the team once again.
A staple in the net, Haley Terry started all 16 games and went 7-1 in conference play on way to being named to the All-MAAC Second Team. The Petaluma, CA native sat fourth in the conference with 132 saves, while being ninth in the MAAC with a 12.04 GAA.
20 student-athletes were also named to the MAAC All-Academic team.
