NORTH TONAWANDA, N.Y. – The Niagara Purple Eagles collected their second win of the spring season with a 4-1 win over the Colgate Raiders on Sunday.
The Purple Eagles rallied to win the doubles points. After falling in three doubles, the No. 2 team of
David Raymond and
Olivier Dufour-Coursol levelled the match with a 6-2 win. NU clinched the doubles point when the No. 1 duo of
Michael Elortegui and
Inaki Belloso won their team-best 11th match and third straight by defeating Colgate's Tom Haile and Jacob Daugherty, 6-3.
Dufour-Coursol gave the Purple Eagles a 2-0 lead after defeating Alan Pleat in straight sets, 6-0, 6-3, for his team-best ninth win of the season. Belloso followed with a 6-0, 6-3 win in three singles and Raymond clinched the match with a 6-3, 6-1 win in No. 4 singles.
Niagara heads back on the road next weekend to face Duquesne (Feb. 13) and St. Francis (Pa.) (Feb. 15).
