The Purple Eagles begin the final month of the regular season with a home-and-home with the RIT Tigers beginning on Friday at home at Dwyer Arena before heading down the I-90 for Saturday's contest at the Gene Polisseni Center. Face-off both nights is at 7:05 p.m. and both games will be televised on Time Warner Cable SportsChannel.

History 101
  • These teams have gone head-to-head 28 times since their first meeting on Nov. 2, 1996, which went down as a 9-4 win for RIT.
  • Niagara holds a 14-4-10 lead in the all-time series.
  • Before the 4-1 road loss to the Tigers on Dec. 12, the Purple Eagles were on an eight-game unbeaten streak against the Tigers. The streak started on De. 12, 2012 with a 2-2 tie and NU went on a 5-0-3 run. NU followed the loss with a 1-1 tie at home on Dec. 13.

Last Time Out
  • Jackson Teichroeb had another strong outing in net and Phillip Nasca scored his second of the season as the Niagara Purple Eagles and RIT Tigers played to a 1-1 tie at Dwyer Arena.
  • Teichroeb stood tall between the pipes for the Purple Eagles. A night removed from making a career-high 44 saves, he posted another 34 on Saturday, including five in the overtime period to help earn NU a point.

Let's Go To The Highlights
  • Last season's RIT weekend was a big one for several Purple Eagles.
  • Phil Nasca set his record for points and assists in a game with two helpers against the Tigers on Jan. 24, 2014.
  • Isaac Kohls' two goals on Jan. 25, 2014 are a career-high for goals in a game. Patrick Conte set his record for goals in a game with his two in the same matchup.
  • Hugo Turcotte tied his record and Vincent Muto set his career high for assists in a game, each with two on Jan. 25, 2014.
  • Adrian Ignagni turned in a big weekend overall. He earned his first career shutout on Jan. 24 before setting his personal record for saves in a game with 40 (which was broken this year with 42 against Robert Morris on Oct. 17). He earned AHA Goalie of the Week honors after stopping 69 of 70 shots for a .986 save percentage.
  • Dan Kolenda and Chris Lochner set career records back in 2013, before it was cool. Kolenda scored a goal and added an assist to set his record for points in a game (with two). Lochner added a pair of assists to set his career-best for assists in a game.

Patterson Scored Shorthanded, Then Did It Again
  • Kevin Patterson scored the first goal of his career in the 6-4 loss to Canisius on Jan. 24. The tally came in the third period while the Purple Eagles were shorthanded and made it a 4-3 game with three minutes left on the clock.
  • He followed it up in the very next game, scoring again while his team was down a man in the third period of the 6-3 loss against Holy Cross on Jan. 30. He also added an assist to finish with a team-high two points.
  • With the shorty against the Crusaders, Patterson became the third player this season to score a shorthanded goal in back-to-back games. He joined Matt Cope (Robert Morris), Dominic Toninato (Minnesota Duluth), and Tanner Kero (Michigan Tech) in the back-to-back club.

Special Teams
  • The Purple Eagles went 2-for-4 on the Power-Play against Holy Cross on Jan. 30, marking the second time this season they have scored multiple goals while on the man-advantage. The first came on Oct. 24 against Notre Dame.
  • Patterson's shorthanded tally gave the Purple and White a season-best three special teams goals in the game.
