AMHERST – The Niagara men's tennis team fell 6-1 to Big 4 rival Buffalo on Friday night at the Miller Tennis Center.
Inaki Belloso provided the Purple Eagles' (2-3) lone point in the match, pulling out a three-set win for his fifth win of the season.
UB (6-3) won the doubles point by edging NU in No. 1 and 2 doubles. Belloso and
Michael Elortegui lost 6-4 to Jonathan Hannestad and Sergio Arevalillo in No. 1 doubles, while
Olivier Dufour-Coursol and
David Raymond were clipped by Tony Miller and Damien David, 7-5.
Two of the six singles matches went into three sets with Belloso outlasting Hannestad, 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 in three singles. Raymond won the first set against Amar Hromic, 7-6, before falling 6-4 and 10-5 in the super breaker.
NU will be back on the court on Sunday to take on the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md.
