Live StatsNIAGARA UNIV, N.Y. – The Niagara Purple Eagles have just two MAAC weekends remaining in the 2014 season including this weekend's stint against the Marist Red Foxes on Saturday and Sunday at Bobo Field.
The Purple Eagles (13-24; 6-10 MAAC) have four players with batting averages north of .330 over the last two series.
Taylor Hackett leads the way with a .450 average with a triple and a double.
Greg Rodgers clocks in at .400 while
Joel Brophy has turned in a .353.
Jordan Schwartz has a .333 average in four games in the field. The other two games had the junior starting on the mound where he threw one complete game, kept batters to a .200 average, and earned a 1.23 ERA.
Marist (12-28; 5-10 MAAC) has dropped its last five in a row after losing to UMASS Lowell, Army, and a sweep at the hands of Canisius. Steve Laurino leads the Red Foxes with a .309 batting average, 10 doubles, and 22 RBIs in 40 games this season. Rich Vrana, Jordan Eich, and Scott Boches are expected to start on the mound. Eich leads the weekend rotation with a 4.30 ERA.
Niagara is still a half game back of Rider and the final spot in the MAAC Championship. Marist enters the weekend a full game back.
Saturday's doubleheader is scheduled to begin at noon with game two beginning 30 minutes after the conclusion of the opener. Sunday's final game is also slated to begin at noon.
