Purple Eagles Drop Non-Conference Tilt 13-4

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Niagara Purple Eagles fell 13-4 in a non-conference tilt against the Canisius Golden Griffins on Tuesday at the Demske Sports Complex.
 
Niagara (16-31) got on the board in the top of the fourth after Greg Rodgers scored from first base on a double from Pavel Chavez-Rusova that made the score 5-1. The Purple and White were able to hang a three-spot on the board in the top of the ninth with RBI singles coming from both Kevin Paulsen and Michael Fuhrman.
 
The ninth-inning tally brought the score to its 13-4 final. Canisius (35-14) pulled out to a lead with a six-run fourth inning that extended the lead to 11-1. 
 
Fuhrman reached base in three of his five trips to the plate as the sophomore went 2-for-4 with a walk and a RBI. Anthony Caringi took the loss on the mound after pitching the first 2.1 innings for NU.
 
The Purple Eagles wrap up the 2014 season with a four-game set against the New Jersey Institute of Technology this weekend. The start times on Friday and Saturday have both been moved up an hour. First pitch for Friday's single game will now be at 4:00 p.m. and game one of Saturday's doubleheader will now be at 2:00 p.m.
