Box Score
NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – The Niagara Purple Eagles were looking good after a five-run fifth inning, but a big sixth from the Iona Gaels led to a 12-6 loss on Sunday afternoon.

Niagara opened the scoring in the top of the first. Anthony Firenzi led off with a double down the rightfield line and was brought around by a bunt-single from Michael Fuhrman to give NU the 1-0 lead.

Trailing 4-1 heading into the fifth, the Purple Eagles (13-24; 6-10 MAAC) collected five runs with two outs on the board to take a 6-4 lead. The big inning was capped by a bases-loaded single from freshman Geoff Seto that cashed in a pair of runners.

The Gaels (8-25; 5-10 MAAC) were able to respond in the home half of the sixth with six runs on six hits to take the lead back. They added one run in each of the seventh and eighth innings on the way to the 12-6 final.

Both Fuhrman and Seto went 2-for-4 at the plate. Seto collected the pair of RBIs while Fuhrman added a run and a walk. Geoff Soja took the loss out of the pen.

The Purple Eagles are back on the field this Tuesday when they host Big Four rival Buffalo for a doubleheader at Bobo Field. First pitch for game one is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
