Baseball Topped 8-0 By Saint Joseph's

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Niagara Purple Eagles fell 8-0 to the Saint Joseph's Hawks in the second game of the Philly Big Five Tournament on Saturday morning.
 
The game started off well enough defensively for the Purple Eagles (4-9); Liam Stroud pitched a trio of scoreless innings and gave up just three hits. It was in the bottom of the fourth inning that the Hawks (4-4) were able to break through and go up 3-0. After a scoreless fifth, the Hawks scored five runs over the next three innings on five combined hits.
 
Niagara got in a position to get on the board in the fourth and fifth innings. Both times they had a runner on third with two outs but were unable to bring the run across the plate.
 
Taylor Hackett led Niagara at the plate with a 2-for-3 afternoon. Stroud took the loss for NU.
 
The Purple Eagles have one game left in the tournament. First pitch tomorrow against Villanova is scheduled for 10:45 a.m.
