NORTH TONAWANDA, N.Y. – The Niagara Purple Eagles halted their three-match skid with a 6-1 win over the Saint Peter's Peacocks on Sunday.

"The guys did a nice job of bouncing back today after dropping a very hard fought match late last night," head coach Anthony Nguyen said. "We look forward to preparing this week for a strong Binghamton team and an important conference match against Fairfield."

Niagara (8-8, 2-2 MAAC) continued its dominance in the series, winning its 12 of the last 13 encounters. The Purple Eagles started the match by claiming the doubles point to avenge last season's doubles point defeat to Saint Peter's (6-6, 2-3 MAAC).

The top pair of Michael Elortegui and Inaki Belloso defeated Marko Knezevic and Oliver Bellomi, 8-2, and David Raymond and Olivier Dufour-Coursol topped Carlos Carrera and Tom Jottrand, 8-3.

NU won five of the six singles matches, though having to win two of those in three sets. Dufour-Coursol, Lorenz Schwojer and Mathieu Lacasee all cruised to straight victories in four through six singles. Raymond had to rally from a set down to beat Tom Jottrand in No. 3 singles and Belloso held off Knezevic in two singles.

Niagara continues it homestand next week with matches against Binghamton on April 4 and Fairfield on April 5.
