Baseball Travels To New Jersey To Face Monmouth

NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. – The Niagara baseball team keeps the conference season rolling with a weekend road-series against the Monmouth Hawks that gets underway on Saturday.
 
The Purple Eagles (6-16; 0-3 MAAC) are 2-3 in their last five contests and have three batters hitting over .330 at the plate over that span. Jordan Schwartz leads the team with a .400 average in his last four starts in the field and has collected a double, a triple, and two RBIs in the last five games. Greg Rodgers is second with a .353 average with Taylor Hackett coming in third with a .333 average. They have added four and three RBIs, respectively.
 
Monmouth (6-11; 3-0 MAAC) is 3-2 in its last five games including a sweep of the Marist Red Foxes last weekend. The Hawks are led this season by Craig Sweeny's .333 average through 14 starts. Jake Gronsky has started leads the way with eight RBIs.
 
Schwartz and freshman Liam Stroud will take the mound for the Purple and White in the games on Saturday. Drew Fittry will start Sunday's third and final game. Schwartz leads the rotation with a 4.70 ERA and each pitcher will be making his seventh start of the season.
