NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. – The Niagara men’s tennis team concluded its regular season with a 5-2 win over the Roberts Wesleyan Redhawks on Tuesday afternoon.
The win gives Niagara 14 on the season, which ties the 2002-03 season for the second most wins in program history. Another historic moment was reached today when
Olivier Dufour-Coursol set the program record for single-season wins in singles with 23, surpassing the record of 22 set by Walter Garcia in 2005. The Quebec native defeated Roberts Wesleyan’s (18-6) Sam Thorold, 6-0, 6-3, to improve to 16-1 on the season in three singles.
The Purple Eagles, who won all three doubles matches to claim the point, also had singles win from
David Raymond, Mathieu Lacasse and senior
Brandon Gallegos.
NU’s next match will be in the MAAC Tournament Semifinals on Saturday against Fairfield. The teams will meet in the semifinals for the fifth time in the last six seasons.
