Baseball Droops Another To Siena On Monday

NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. – The Purple Eagles lost Monday afternoon’s tilt to the Siena Saints 10-0 at Sal Maglie Stadium.
 
The Purple Eagles (12-27, 7-8 MAAC) got runners on first and second in each of the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings but left runners stranded each time. In the fourth, Kevin Paulsen singled before being moved over as Evan Wexler drew a two-out walk.  Thomas Rodrigues led things off in the next inning with a bunt-single and made to to second as Ryan McCauley forced an error.  In the sixth, which was led by a Greg Rodgers single to left field, Paulen reached first and was advanced by a Robert Hansen two-out base-knock.
 
The Saints (17-21, 9-3 MAAC) got on the board early with a pair of runs in the first then added one in the third, two in the fifth, four in the sixth, and one in the seventh.  Ben Zaccagnino no-hit the Saints in the eighth and Anthony Caringi stranded a runner in the ninth. 
 
Paulsen turned in a multi-hit performance as the junior went 2-for-4 at the plate.  Jordan Schwartz (2-4) started on the mound for the Purple Eagles and took the loss.
 
The team gets right back at it tomorrow when it travels to Amherst to take on Big Four-rival Buffalo at 3:00 p.m.
