KENT, Ohio – The Purple Eagles ended their trip to the Midwest with a 21-2 loss to the Kent State Golden Flashes on Wednesday evening.
Jordan Schwartz brought in both runs for Niagara (12-24). The sophomore finished the day 3-for-4 at the plate with his first RBI coming in the fourth inning on a double to left center that brought in
Greg Rodgers His second RBI came in the sixth inning, which was started with a
Joel Klock double to left field. A walk drawn by
Ryan McCauley left runners on the corners and Schwartz's single to left to scored Klock.
The Golden Flashes (19-16) got on the board early with a five-run first inning and another two in the second. After they were blanked in the middle innings, they scored six in the sixth, seven in the seventh, and one more in the eighth to come away with the 21-2 win.
Niagara is back on the field this weekend when it hosts the Siena Saints for a three-game set for the chance to take over third place in the MAAC. Saturday’s doubleheader and Sunday’s game both begin at noon.
