NORTH TONAWANDA, N.Y. – The Niagara Purple Eagles continued their dominance over the Siena Saints with a 6-1 victory on Saturday night.
Niagara won two of the three doubles matches and five of the six singles matches en route to extending its decade-plus win streak over the Siena (2-3, 1-1 MAAC).
“Both teams did a job taking care of business tonight,” head coach Anthony Nguyen said on both the men's and women's wins tonight. “We look forward to playing Loyola tomorrow morning.”
David Raymond and Olivier Dufour-Coursol won their third straight match with an 8-2 win over Ryan Scmitz and Eric Sumanaru in No. 1 doubles. Michael Elortegui and Mathieu Lacasse followed suit with an 8-6 win in two doubles.
Raymond and Dufour-Coursol each won their singles matches in straight sets to put NU up 3-0 on the night. Brandon Gallegos defeated Alex Burbine, 6-3, 6-2 in No. 4 singles to clinch the match for the Purple Eagles. Elortegui outlasted Schmitz in three sets and Lacasse dropped Sumanaru in straight sets for the other two wins.
The Purple Eagles will face Loyola on Sunday at 9 a.m.
