NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. – The Purple Eagles will try to find their way back into the win column Tuesday afternoon when they host the St. Bonaventure Bonnies beginning at 2 p.m. at Sal Maglie Stadium.

In the last meeting between these two teams, Niagara (10-16) had five different players contribute at least one RBI on their way to scoring six runs.  The Purple Eagles put up five runs in the seventh to tie the game at 6-6 but St. Bonaventure (12-11) was able to bring two runs across in its half of the eighth and would win the game 8-6.

To avenge the loss, and win the season series, Niagara hopes senior Adam Wagner can continue his improved play.  Over the last three series Wagner has hit for a .325 batting average (18 points higher than his season average) and has posted a .419 on base percentage (36 points higher than his season OBP).

Niagara will also need continued improvement from its bullpen.  Over the last three series against Rider, Marist, and Manhattan, four Niagara relievers have ERAs under 2.00.  Geoff Soja has pitched the most out of the bullpen over that stretch, throwing 12 innings, and has given up two runs while striking out 10 and posting an ERA of 1.50.

St. Bonaventure comes into Tuesday’s matchup against winning three of their last five games but have gone .500 (3-3) in its six road contests.   The Bonnies are led by Billy Urban, whose .425 batting average and 23 RBIs are both team-highs.  Their pitching ace is Eddie Gray who has posted a 3-1 record in seven starts with a 3.14 ERA.
