RIVERDALE, N.Y. – The Niagara baseball team looks to keep momentum rolling when it continues MAAC play this weekend against the Manhattan Jaspers in a three-game series beginning on Friday at 3 p.m.
Niagara's (10-13, 3-2 MAAC) bullpen was critical in a pair of wins over Rider last weekend.
Geoff Soja,
Matt Munson,
Cody Lillich, and
Tyler Spear came out of the pen and gave up a combined two runs in 8.2 innings while striking out 10 and issuing only three walks.
Offensively, the Purple Eagles hope
Wynton Bernard can stay in the groove he found, going .400 (4-for-10) at the plate with a pair of doubles, two RBIs and a stolen base (which gave Bernard 18 on the season and moved him into third place nationally) against the Broncs.
Manhattan (8-17, 4-2 MAAC) is led offensively by Ramon Ortega, who has a team-high 17 RBIs so far this season, and Kyle Murphy, who is their extra-base threat with 10 doubles in his 25 starts.
Following the series opener on Friday, the teams will square off in a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at Noon.
