Women’s Lacrosse Set to Battle Canisius

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Niagara women’s lacrosse team prepares for its battle against the Canisius Golden Griffins on Wednesday, April 18 at 7 p.m. from the Demske Sports Complex. 

This will be the Purple Eagles (3-9; 0-4 MAAC) final contest of a three-game road trip that recently had them drop a 21-4 decision to the No. 9 Dartmouth Big Green on Monday.

The Niagara offense is led by senior Emily French (26-5-31) and junior Fran Pollastro (23-5-28).  The Purple Eagles are also getting contributions from senior Nicole Karek who has netted 13 goals and freshman Carrie-Jo Farrugia  who has 12 goals so far this season.

The Golden Griffins (6-7; 2-2 MAAC) are led by senior Megan Oosting who leads the MAAC in goals (40) and draw controls won (51).   Senior Carly Quinn has helped out the offense as well, leading the conference with 29 assists while also adding 22 goals for 51 points.   

The Purple Eagles lead this season’s Battle of the Bridge series 14.5-10.5 and needs 2.5 points to clinch the series.
