OLEAN, N.Y. – The Niagara men’s tennis team edged Little 3 rival St. Bonaventure, 4-3, on Tuesday to extend its win streak to four matches.

NU (10-6) had to battle its way to victory in a tough road contest against SBU (2-14). The Purple Eagles won the first two doubles match to earn the point when
David Lemieux-Sarrasin and
Olivier Dufour-Coursol won in No. 3 doubles, 8-2, and
Brandon Gallegos and
David Raymond defeated Bona’s Oscar Yanez and Luis Guevara, 8-3, in No. 1 doubles.
The teams would alternate singles through the first four matches.
Lorenz Schwojer won his sixth straight match with a convincing 6-1, 6-1 win over Javier Ortiz in No. 5 singles and Gallegos won his match in three sets. Niagara was up 3-2 when Lemieux-Sarrasin clinched the match for the Purple and White with a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Trevor Haskell.
"Winning the doubles point was huge for us," Nguyen said. "Brandon winning his match in three sets was a huge morale boost for the team and helped David (Lemieux-Sarrasin) to clinch the match. I give St. Bonaventure credit. They played well and they made us work for it."
The Purple Eagles have now won five of their last six matches heading into their regular-season finale at Rider on Saturday, April 14 at Noon.
