ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The Niagara baseball team is ready for its first game in Western New York of the 2012 season when the Purple Eagles take on Litte 3 rival the St. Bonaventure Bonnies on Tuesday at 3 p.m.
Niagara (7-10) will try to snap a three-game losing streak when it travels to Olean for a one-off with the Bonnies (7-6). The team will rely on
Wynton Bernard to continue his play from last weekend in Ypsilaniti, Mich. where the centerfielder went 5-for-10 at the plate with two RBIs and three stolen bases.
The Bonnies are coming into the matchup having won two games in its three-game series with Marshall. They are led by third baseman Billy Urban. The junior has a team-high .408 batting average to go along with his six extra-base hits and 19 RBIs on the season.
