YPSILANTI, Mich. – Niagara baseball heads to Michigan to take on the Eastern Michigan Eagles in a three-game series beginning on Friday at Oestrike Stadium.

The Purple Eagles (7-7) are after their fifth win in the last six games and will rely on
Eric Hink and
Ryan McCauley to continue setting the tone on offense.  Hink is coming off of a weekend where he hit .555 (10-for-18) and knocked in five RBIs.  McCauley turned in a batting average of .647 (11-for-17) and contributed 11 RBIs, while having at least  two RBIs in each game against the Lancers.  The junior's performance earned him three player of the week awards, earning honors from the MAAC, the Eastern College Athletic Conference, and College Baseball Insider.

Drew Fittry will lead off the weekend on the mound for Niagara.  The sophomore has pitched to a 3-0 record in his five starts this season, striking out 20 while walking only 12.  Niagara’s other two starters,
Jordan Schwartz and
Jim Fort, have only two starts each.  Schwartz, a freshman, leads the rotation with a 4.30 ERA and Fort has the best strikeout-to-walk ratio, posting a 15/3 ratio.

The Eastern Michigan Eagles have started 2012 with a 3-12 record.  This weekend will be the first games played at Oestrike Stadium, after the home opener was canceled due to weather back in February.
