BALTIMORE - Trailing two sets to none in an important road conference match, the Niagara volleyball team (13-6, 6-2 MAAC) put on an offensive showcase in the final three sets to rally for the 3-2 victory over Loyola on Sunday. The Purple Eagles committed just three hitting errors in the final three frames en route to the 15-25, 12-25, 25-20, 26-24, 15-12 victory.

The win extended the Niagara win streak to four matches in a row, and eight out of 10, overall. After committing 15 errors against 14 kills in the first two sets, the Purple Eagles pounded out 42 kills to just three errors in the final three sets.

"This was a total team win," Niagara head coach Susan Clements said. "I must give credit to our players for getting tough and gutting out a win."

Niagara sophomore Michelle James (Cincinnati, Ohio) sparked the offensive turnaround with 41 assists and seven kills. James' 11 digs completed the setter's all-around day.

"Michelle stepped up and started to get kills after the (second-set) break," Clements said. "That took a lot of pressure off our other hitters."

Sophomore Hannah Hedrick (Cincinnati, Ohio) earned her 15th double-double of the season, matching last year's total. The outside hitter tallied 15 kills and 13 digs while recording a perfect service reception percentage. She has totaled 71 kills during the four-game Niagara win streak.

Freshman Kari Honomichl (Petersburg, Mich.) added a team-high 17 kills, while sophomore Kathy Bibler (Bowling Green, Ohio) chipped in with eight kills. Freshman middle Amanda Wilken (Cincinnati, Ohio) contributed five kills without an error in the win.

Sophomore Sam Morgan (Cincinnati, Ohio) collected 14 digs to improve her double-digit dig streak to 49 matches, every match she has played in during her collegiate career.

The Purple Eagles, who sit alone in second place in the conference, complete the first half of their MAAC season at Canisius on Thursday at 6 p.m.
