BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Led by personal bests by four Niagara harriers, the Purple Eagles finished 44th in the men's brown race, while they finished 42nd in the women's brown race.
Head coach Tom Mulhern was pleased with how his team ran today.
"This was by far our best race of the season," Mulhern said. "We ran smart and ran tough in the midst of a big field of runners."
The men were led by Mike Trendell (Oriskany Falls, N.Y.) and Colin Durina (Poland, Ohio), who both set personal bests at the 8k distance during the event, with Trendell finishing at 26:26, while Durina finished in 26:47. Sophomore Brian Traugott (Rochester, N.Y.) continues to impress, as he also set a personal best, finishing the race in 29:19.
The women were led by senior Jill Snopkowski (Torrington, Conn.), setting a new personal best in the 6k race, finishing the course in 24:44. Chelsea Usack (Horseheads, N.Y.) was second for Niagara, finishing just eight seconds behind Snopkowski.
The Purple Eagles will return to action on Oct. 18, as they host the Little Three Invitational, Niagara's final tune-up before the MAAC Championships.
