Baseball Drops Another Game to Marist

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The baseball team (13-27, 2-16 MAAC) was swept by Marist (16-27, 10-10 MAAC) Sunday, with a 13-4 loss at McCann Field. The Red Foxes took an early 4-0 lead, and scored eight runs in the final two innings for the win.

Left-hander Ryan Virtue (Stittsville, Ont.) took the loss to fall to 1-3 on his senior season. He allowed five runs on nine hits in 3 1/3 innings.

Junior Tim Alberts (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) slugged his team-high seventh home run of the season in the ninth inning. The left fielder was the lone Purple Eagle to score twice in the loss.

Junior Harrison Harber (Kanata, Ont.) drove a run-scoring triple to right centerfield in the fourth inning  to get Niagara on the board. Classmate Chris Leendertse (Ancatser, Ont.) scored an unearned run in the seventh inning on an RBI fielder's choice by senior Brian Clifford (Buffalo, N.Y.).

After Alberts' leadoff home run in the ninth, Harber came around to score on a single by senior James Nikolaides (Dedham, Mass.).

After a week off for final exams, the Purple Eagles host Rider for a three-game series at Sal Maglie Stadium, May 12-13.
